4 Major Ukambani Roads earmarked for tarmacking

Pro-government elected MPs and senior government officials from Ukambani, on Monday met with President William at statehouse to discuss development in the region.

The leaders have also been meeting cabinet Secretaries from different ministries to unlock the development of the region.

The leaders have so far met with CS from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Kipchumba Murkomen, ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo, and Water CS Macharia Njeru.

During their meeting with Murkomen, several roads were earmarked for consideration in upgrading to bitumen standard including Kivandini – Tala, Kangundo – Mwala, Wamunyu – Itangini – Ukia – Emali.

“Water being a fundamental factor in our region, Kenya Kwanza government has pumped a lot of resources towards water projects, with mega projects like Thwake Dam nearing completion and Mwala Cluster Water Project gradually rolling out,” Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka said.

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse who was part of the delegation revealed that the government will prioritize the tarmacking of the Emali – Ukia road and a new road from Aathi- Syumile – Makindu – Kalii- Kikumimi – Kwa Mumbe – Mulala in the constituency.

According to the MP, they also agreed to prioritize our major town roads as well as fast-track the development of Makindu Airstrip.

“The President is clear that Ukambani must be liberated from negative politics and be part of the nation’s economic success story,” noted Mutuse.
