Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior has criticized former Nairobi Deputy Governor contestant Prof. Philip Kaloki over remarks about the Kalamba fruit processing plant.
Mutula expressed shock over Kaloki’s claims that he would revive the plant if elected governor in the next general elections, questioning how one could revive an already operational facility.
“There is a gentleman who wants to compete with me and is on radio saying he will come and revive Kalamba. I ask myself, which Kalamba? Is it this one producing juice or another?” Mutula posed.

The governor also dismissed Kaloki’s pledge to revitalize the coffee sector, asserting that the sector is already thriving under his administration.
“Coffee farming is doing well; farmers have received the cherry fund. He’s also claiming to support PWDs. All I can ask is if he is from Timbuktu.” Mutula quipped.
Mutula emphasized that while his government is open to constructive criticism, individuals should verify facts before making public statements.
Despite challenges in revenue disbursement from the national government, Mutula highlighted that his administration has ensured the county’s key sectors, including agriculture and support for persons with disabilities, continue progressing.
The governor’s remarks come amid growing political tension as aspirants prepare for the upcoming elections.
