FKF Premier League Matches Postponed Due to Current State of Kenyatta Stadium

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced the postponement of two highly anticipated FKF Premier League matches scheduled for Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

The affected matches were Nairobi City Stars vs Ulinzi Stars and Posta Rangers vs Talanta FC a decision that came as a result of a waterlogged pitch, rendering it unsuitable for gameplay.

In a statement released by FKF, they expressed regret over any inconvenience caused to viewers and fans eagerly awaiting these matches.

The FKF assured stakeholders that they are actively working to reschedule these matches to ensure that they take place under optimal conditions. Fans and teams are urged to stay updated on the new match dates once they are finalized.

“Two FKF Premier League matches that had been scheduled for today, May 5, 2024, at the Machakos Stadium, have been postponed due to heavy rainfall. The affected fixtures, Posta Rangers vs FC Talanta and Nairobi City Stars vs Ulinzi Stars shall be played at a later date to be communicated in due course,” read the statement in part.

“FKF continues to closely monitor the prevailing weather conditions. The rescheduled dates for the above matches will be communicated once the situation allows for the games to be played under suitable and safe conditions for all players, officials, and stakeholders involved. Further updates will be provided through our official communication channels, the statement read further.

On Saturday Shabana FC and Sofapaka FC played on the pitch but it was all muddy. According to pictures circulated on social media mud was visible on the shoes and socks of the players.

The pitch situation has gotten worse as heavy rains continue to pound the country.
