The IEBC Friday, 13th August 2022 announced the results for Kitui Governor, Senator, and Women Representative positions.
Kitui gubernatorial contest attracted four contestants, Julius Malombe of Wiper, David Musila of Jubilee, Jonathan Mueke of UDA, and Charity Ngilu of NARC. However, Ngilu bolted out to support Musila although her name was on the ballot.
According to final results announced by the IEBC, Malombe garnered 198,004 votes commanding a strong lead while Musila got 117,606 votes and Jonathan Mueke got 10,639 votes from the eight constituencies.
In Mwingi North constituency, Julius Malombe garnered 20,978 votes while Musila got 21,461, in Mwingi West where Musila comes from, Malombe got 8,014 votes while Musila led with 26, 856 votes. Mwingi Central constituency the two contestants who were regarded as the main competitors in the gubernatorial race edged closer to each other with Malombe commanding the lead with 22,517 votes while Musila had 20,421 votes.
In Kitui South, Malombe led with 35,449 votes while Musila got 9,926 votes. Kitui Rural constituency Malombe led with 25,403 votes while Musila garnered 5,802 votes whereas in Kitui East Malombe had 27,019 votes and Musila got 13,056 votes. In Kitui Central the home turf of Malombe, he garnered 35,404 votes while Musila got 8,110 votes, and in Kitui West constituency Malombe managed to get 22,569 votes and Musila followed with 12,287 votes.
In Kitui senatorial seat, Enoch Kiio Wambua of the Wiper Party retained his seat after getting 191,317 votes followed by Stephen Kilonzo of the UDA Party who came a distant second with 49,064 votes.
Irene Kasalu of the Wiper Party retained her woman representative seat after garnering 201,889 votes against Peninah Malonza of the UDA Party who got 78,783 votes.
