AIC Bishop Abraham Mulwa has hit out at critics of President William Ruto in Ukambani, urging locals to accord the Head of State the respect he deserves during his visits to the region.
Speaking during the consecration of Bishop Kalanzo as the Machakos Area Bishop — an event graced by President Ruto — Bishop Mulwa dismissed claims that the President should be barred from touring the region, insisting that no one has the authority to restrict the President’s movements.
Switching to the local Kamba dialect for emphasis, the outspoken cleric said:
“I want to ask the faithful and clergy to allow the President to tour the entire Ukambani. When he says he is coming, he should be received warmly. When I go to the Rift Valley, I’m treated like a president. Just a month ago, I was there, and local leaders stayed with me from morning until 8 pm.”

He criticized unnamed leaders allegedly opposing the President’s visits to the region, questioning their authority:
“I hear some are saying the President should not come here — does this place belong to their father or grandmother? We cannot allow that. Have you ever seen me doing politics? You have failed!”
Bishop Mulwa went a step further, warning any leader who might respond to his remarks that they risk losing political office come 2027.
