Back to Business: Speaker Lifts Ban on Machakos County Assembly Sittings

Machakos County Assembly Speaker Ann Kiusya has lifted the ban on plenary and committee sittings.

In a letter, the speaker stated that plenary and committee sittings as well as both domestic and foreign travels by the Members of the County Assembly have been reinstated.

“The County Assembly Service Board held a meeting on 22nd May 2025 and vide Minute Number 193/3 RD ASB/2025 and made the following resolutions:- That the suspension of the plenary and committee sittings of the Assembly be lifted with immediate effect. The suspension of Members’ official travel, both domestic and foreign, be lifted with immediate effect,” read the letter.

“I hereby communicate the above resolutions to Hon. Members and direct that the various committees resume sittings on Monday, 26th May 2025,” The letter went on.

In April, the Speaker closed the County Assembly indefinitely after chaos erupted over sharp divisions on her impeachment.
