Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti Named Among 100 Most Influential Women in Africa

Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti has received continental recognition after being named among the 100 Most Influential Women in Africa during the 4th Edition of the African Women Awards held Friday evening in Kigali, Rwanda.

The prestigious honour, presented by the She Achievers Network, celebrates African women who are transforming the continent through leadership, innovation, and community-driven impact.

Governor Ndeti expressed her joy and gratitude following the recognition, taking to her social media pages to share the news and appreciation.

“I am deeply honoured to be recognised among the 100 Most Influential Women in Africa at the 4th Edition of the African Women Awards held in Rwanda. This recognition is a celebration of African women who continue to shape our continent through leadership, innovation, and impact,” she posted on Facebook.

She added that the accolade would inspire her to continue championing transformative governance, youth and women empowerment, and community development initiatives.

“I dedicate this honour to the people of Machakos County and to all women across Africa who continue to dream boldly, break barriers, and lead with purpose,” she said.

The recognition comes just days after Governor Ndeti and her administration came under public scrutiny over alleged unpaid supplies involving comedian-turned-entrepreneur Sammy Kioko—claims the county government dismissed as politically motivated.

Despite the controversy, Governor Ndeti has remained focused on her development agenda. Earlier this week, she presided over the graduation of more than 1,000 youths under the Machakos Youth Empowerment Program at the county’s iconic White House grounds. The event was graced by Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who lauded the county’s efforts in youth empowerment.

The Governor’s inclusion among Africa’s top 100 influential women has since sparked excitement online, with many Kenyans and Machakos residents congratulating her for her resilience, leadership, and commitment to service.

Her recognition reinforces her growing reputation as one of the continent’s emerging female leaders driving meaningful change.
