The Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) Party has reacted after the party’s Secretary General Philippe Sadjah and some party officials endorsed Wiper Gubernatorial Candidate Wavinya Ndeti.
Addressing the press in Machakos, party officials led by the Party National Executive Council (NEC) Chairman Dr. Jimmy Mutunga said that Sadjah’s defection was a personal decision and it was not the party’s noting that Sadjah as an individual had the right to defect to any party.
“We are somehow sad but not that much to learn about Sadjah’s support for Wavinya Ndeti. I want to put it out clearly that Sadjah went alone and did not go as CCU Party because his powers as the Secretary General come from the NEC and we did not discuss this with him,” Dr. Jimmy said.
“In CCU we have our own party leader who is vying for Machakos Gubernatorial Seat and we have vowed to support his candidature up to the ballot and ensure that he emerges victorious and becomes the next Machakos Governor,” he added.
His words were echoed by Davis Musau the National Organising Secretary for the CCU party who noted that the Secretary-General had stopped campaigning for party candidates and it was a clear indication that he was on his way out.
His message to the Wiper party after the defection of Sadjah was that they should be prepared for a bruising battle as they were going to ensure that CCU Gubernatorial candidate was going to win the seat.
“Do not be scared or swayed away by the current occurrences as the Wiper party led by Kalonzo has never respected the people of Machakos. If you look at other Ukambani counties the people vying for Governor are literate. In Machakos he has given us an illiterate contestant,” Musau claimed.
John Mutua Katuku PTP senatorial candidate further revealed that Sadjah had never campaigned for Waita or CCU candidates and his departure was a drop in the ocean noting that Maliti joining hands with Wavinya was a clear indication that Wiper supported the rot caused by Mutua’s administration in Machakos.
“What has gone around about Sadjah saying he will support Wavinya is something normal in politics and he was given what he was given to pledge his support. So do not be swayed by his words because he is a Ugandan who formed a party on his own interests,” Katuku alleged.
“The People of Machakos need to know that the party is behind Waita and it has not withdrawn its candidature and Waita will be in the ballot and those are just rumours. Maliti joining hands with Wavinya is an advantage to us because all the dirt went on one side,” he added.
On Wednesday, 27th July, CCU Party Secretary General Phillipe Sadjah pledged his support for Wiper Gubernatorial Candidate Wavinya Ndeti .Maendeleo Chap Chap candidate Eng. Francis Maliti withdrew his candidature and supported Wavinya.
