Former Cabinet secretary for EAC and Arid and Semi-Arid Areas Penina Malonza has revealed that she will run for Kitui County Governor in 2027 on a UDA Ticket.
Speaking in Kitui, Malonza said that being appointed a Cabinet Secretary in Kenya Kwanza was a clear indication that the president trusts her.
She noted that her tenure as the deputy governor of Kitui County was a preparation ground for her, Penina promised to continue to serve the residents of Kitui despite her not holding any government position.
“I was called and told not to vie for the gubernatorial seat in Kitui, does it belong to an individual? If the president took me in when I did not get the Women Representative seat and made me a minister how can I come back again and vie for the women’s representative seat again,” said Malonza.
“I will vie for the Governor seat and will not relent and I will be on the ballot. I have served the people of Kitui without discrimination or favoritism. If the people that have worked for Kitui County can be lined up I am one of them,” she added.
