Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has told off leaders who blamed her for giving County jobs and contracts to non-locals.
Speaking during a Public participation forum, Wavinya said that it was uncalled for leaders to utter such words given that Machakos County has residents from different communities.
Wavinya affirmed to residents that she would give jobs to all people despite their tribe or race.
“I hear people are going around saying that Wavinya is giving jobs to Somalis, let me ask are there no Muslims around here, Are Muslims not part of Machakos County,” Wavinya questioned.
“Kambas are getting 99 percent of the jobs so what will I do with the 1 percent, should we be this selfish? I am a mother and these are kids like the others,” she added.
This comes days after Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule called out the Governor for allegedly giving non-local County contracts.
“Let’s give jobs to our people. Here in my constituency projects are being done by people from outside. There is a hospital here in Kiima Kimwe It’s being constructed by a Somali same as a toilet of 1.2 Million being done by a Somali,” said Caleb.
