Top Schools in Kitui County in KCSE 2025

Kitui County has posted an impressive performance in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, with several schools recording strong mean scores and affirming the county’s rising academic profile.

Leading the pack is Kitui School, which emerged as the top-performing institution in the county with an outstanding mean score of 9.718, cementing its reputation as an academic powerhouse. The school also ranks in top 15 nationally.

Close behind is Muthale Girls High School, which registered a commendable mean score of 8.83, followed by little know Zombe Mixed Day and Boarding Secondary School at 8.721.

Migwani Boys High School also posted a strong showing with a mean score of 8.66, while the little known Kaundu Secondary School in Mwingi rounded off the top five with 8.617.

Girls’ schools continued to make their mark, with Kimangao Girls High School recording a mean score of 8.021, narrowly ahead of St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School at 8.0166 and Kyamboo Secondary School at 8.01.

Other notable performers include St. Angela’s Girls High School (7.9677), Kisasi Boys High School (7.544), and AIC Sombe Girls High School (7.507). Kyondoni Girls High School (7.24), Kyuso Boys High School (7.2125), and Matinyani Boys High School (7.176) also posted impresive results.

Completing the list of top performers is Tungutu Girls High School, which achieved a mean score of 7.116, underscoring the depth of quality performance across the county.

Kitui County saw the rise of little known schools that are now a threat to traditional academic giants.
