Revealed: How Kware Murder Suspect Escaped

33-year-old Collins Jumaisi Khalusha the main suspect in the Kware murder escaped from police custody alongside 12 foreign inmates who were being held at Nairobi’s Gigiri Police Station for illegal immigration.

According to a police report, The escape occurred early Tuesday morning around 5:00 a.m. when Police Constable Gerald Mutuku, accompanied by the canteen manager, conducted routine checks and served breakfast to the detainees. Upon opening the cell door, the officers were alarmed—the 13 suspects had vanished after cutting through the wire mesh at the basking bay.

“An officer and the canteen manager discovered the escape when they went to serve breakfast and found the cell door open,” the police report read in part.

Collins Jumaisi Khalusha was arrested on 15 July 2024 after he was linked to the brutal murders of at least 42 women where some dismembered mutilated bodies were discovered dumped in a quarry in Kware area of Embakasi. Khalusha was awaiting a court appearance for a plea hearing related to the shocking murders.

Kalusha’s case has drawn significant attention after he confessed to the killings, revealing that he had disposed of the victims’ bodies in the Kware area between 2022 and 2024. His first alleged victim was his wife, whom, according to his confession, he strangled, dismembered, and disposed of at a dumpsite.

Director of DCI Mohamed Amin confirmed the incident saying a fresh hunt had been launched on the suspect.

“It is unfortunate this has happened but we are pursuing the matter for action,” Amin said.

Khalusha had previously claimed that his confession was coerced through police torture, casting further controversy on the investigation.
