Moses Kuria makes good his threat, starts tree planting at disputed Portland land

Barely a week after threatening to evict squatters from disputed Portland cement land, Trade CS Moses Kuria has announced a tree-planting exercise in the area – Portland Ecocity.

According to the cabinet secretary, Phase 1 of the exercise will seek to plant 200,000 trees along a 25km stretch starting from Gen. Mulinge road.

The CS revealed the exercise will kick off on the 14th of November 2022 and is targeting to use Youths from Mavoko who will be paid 100 Ksh per tree.

The exercise;

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and other leaders last week told off CS Kuria over his claims telling him the land belongs to the locals and not East Africa Portland Cement.

In a rejoinder a day after, The CS said,” I am not in a mood to fight, I have fought enough in my life, but when some counties take the wrong turn and start to lag behind others, do not blame it on witchcraft.”
