Makueni: Redeemed Gospel Church cleric calls for regulation of church teachings

Bishop Japheth Munyao has called upon the Government to ensure that churches operate under the law.

The Makueni County Redeemed Church cleric while addressing the press at Makindu called for bodies such as the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), Evangelical Association of Kenya, and mainstream churches to form a board that will look into the church teachings and beliefs.

“All registered and unregistered churches should present their information on what they believe in and their teachings to the board. The board should identify some churches whose beliefs are not biblical or the teachings are human sacrifice related “, Munyao said.

This comes after Paul MacKenzie, a preacher of Good News International Church in Malindi allegedly brainwashed his followers to starve to death so as to meet Jesus Christ.

So far, over 73 bodies of the victims have been exhumed by detectives at Shakahola Village. 29 followers have also been rescued.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki similarly called for regulation of churches and declared the 800-acre Shakahola Forest, a crime scene and is set to visit the area today.
