Machakos County Government hospitals will be manned by Inspectorate Officers to assist in curbing the theft of drugs.
This is according to Machakos County CEC of Health Dr. Daniel Yumbya who was speaking after terminating the contract of Sky Park Security Company that had been offering Security Services at Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
Dr. Yumbya noted that after consultation with the governor, they saw it wise that all public hospitals in the county be manned by Inspectorate Officers so as to ensure that drug theft is curbed.
“As a county, we shall not be having private companies provide security in our hospitals. We shall be having our inspectorate officers offering the security services,” said Yumbya.
“This comes after a consultation with the delivery unity, head of inspectorate officers, and the Governor and we saw it being a way to curb the increasing theft of drugs in our hospitals so as to ensure that the common mwananchi is attended to,” he added.
This comes after several incidents where people have complained that there were no drugs in hospitals despite the County government flagging off consignments of drugs worth millions to hospitals.
