Speaking during a public participation forum in Ndunduni, Kangundo, Mwangangi cited a recent incident involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was reportedly attacked upon returning from the United States. He described the event as a worrying sign of growing political hostility in the country.

“Why would you send thugs and goons to terrorize someone coming from abroad? What are you afraid of? Why not use the same energy to fight crime? This is how civil strife begins,” Mwangangi said.

He emphasized the importance of unity and political maturity in achieving meaningful development, urging residents to reject divisive politics.

“Our unity as Kangundo and as a region is more critical now than ever. Let us stand together, embrace peace, and reject leaders who divide us,” he added.

Mwangangi also condemned what he termed the “biggest theft of public funds in Kenya’s history,” raising concerns over unexplained massive donations by some leaders. He called for greater transparency and accountability in public service.

“Kenya has become a laughing stock because of rampant corruption. Many emerging nations no longer look up to us,” he said.

The deputy governor urged citizens to prioritize integrity in leadership and support efforts that foster peace, development, and national cohesion.
