Machakos Deputy Governor tells off Raila over remarks to US Ambassador

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has called on leaders to accord respect to Ambassadors.

Speaking during a sports tournament in Kyeleni ward, Mwangangi said it was unwise for Azimio leader Raila Odinga to attack the US Ambassador Meg Whitman.

Mwangangi noted that such remarks would result in investors pulling out of the country and causing the economy of the country to collapse.

“Let’s respect the Ambassadors sent to this country. These people are our investors and if we wake up to attack them it does not make any sense for they will stop investing,” said Mwangangi.

“When an Ambassador is sent to our country he or she is a representative of that country. Some of them have even invested in our counties and this has brought forth employment and developments in our counties,” he added.

This comes days after Azimio leader Raila Odinga during the Devolution conference told off US Ambassador Meg Whitman for speaking about the 2022 elections.

“I want to tell the rogue ambassador, leave Kenyans alone. If maandamano can lead to dialogue between Ichung’wah and Kalonzo, everything is good with maandamano. Tell the rogue Ambassador Kenya is not the United States and it is not a colony of the United States; keep your mouth shut while here, otherwise, we will call for your recall back to your country,” Odinga stated.
