Kawaya: Mwala has made remarkable steps in the fight against illicit liquor

Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka alias Kawaya says that his constituency has made remarkable steps in the countrywide ongoing fight against illicit brews.

According to Kawaya, a Collaborative approach to communal issues and the implementation of the government agenda is a key factor in realizing development in constituencies.

Speaking after meeting with Mwala sub County Administration leaders Kawaya noted his constituency was committed to restoring sanity in bars and restaurants.

“I have this morning held a comprehensive meeting with Mwala Sub County Administration Leaders led by ACCs Patrick Mwita and Dennis Muthomi. The team briefed me on the ongoing crackdown on illicit brew and I’m pleased with the remarkable steps they’ve taken in ensuring the government policy is achieved. Sanity must be restored in our bars and restaurants,” Kawaya through his official Facebook account said.

The MP further promised to renovate and equip chief offices in the area.

“I also shared my long-term development plans that rely a lot on their support for their realization. The meeting also opened up an opportunity for the chiefs to share the state of their offices and committed support to renovate and equip their offices,” he added.

The government of Kenya through the Ministry of Interior is currently conducting a countrywide crackdown on illicit brews, following the tragic death of over 13 individuals in Kirinyaga who died after consuming illicit brew.

According to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki, 13,800 bars across the country that have been operating without licenses and selling beer near schools have been closed.
