Furious Wavinya, Kuyu dismiss Audit report questioning over 440M expenditure

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and Finance CECM Onesmus Muia Kuyu have dismissed the 2022/2023 Auditor General report that questioned expenditure of over 440 Million.

Speaking at Jetview SDA Saturday, the duo also told off politicians using the report to criticize the Ndeti administration. They claimed that the politicians who were working with the last regime were blackmailing Governor Wavinya to get county contracts.

“Some men think when they call a woman a thief she will be afraid, they are the biggest thieves and even God knows. The building in question the tender was awarded during the Mutua era, as a woman what should I do as I have found the building construction underway.”Wavinya said.

“The building was to cost 230M and when I look at the audit report it’s not even a query for this year but it’s forwarded as a previous year’s unresolved issue. Certified work to date is 230 million and someone goes to report as 400 million. We see all these as politics. I want to warn those thugs that the time for blackmailing people is over.” Kuyu said.

The auditor general in the 2022/2023 Financial year report questioned the 12-storey building that the county allocated Ksh.399 million, yet the Auditor General says the construction cost Ksh.230 million and wants to know why the extra expenditure of Ksh.169 million.
