Former Machakos County Attorney James Kathili has revealed what led to the fallout with Governor Wavinya.
Kathili stated that his woes started after Kalama Ward MCA Boniface Maeke was assaulted and undressed by the Machakos County inspectorate officers in January 2024.
Kathili said that his approach to the matter made the governor angry, claiming that she told him that those who removed Maeke’s trousers were sent by her and she even paid bail for the inspectorate officers that had been arrested.
“My problem with Wavinya started when I talked about Kalama Ward MCA Boniface Maeke shameful arrest by the Machakos County inspectorate. When that happened, I called Madam and asked to see her alone,” said Kathili.

“When I went to the office, I told her that what had been done was uncalled for and she should issue a public statement condemning the issue because Maeke is an elected leader. Wavinya told me to get out of her office because she employed me to work for the county government, not to work with criminals,”Kathili claimed.
Kathili went ahead to allege that Wavinya ordered the arrest of Maeke, and she even went ahead to hold a fundraising by the CECMs for bailing the inspectorate officers who had been arrested.
“Wavinya told me boldly that she had orchestrated the arrest of Boniface Maeke, and during a virtual cabinet meeting, I was told to get out and Wavinya collected 10,000 from each minister in an aim to pay for the inspectorates that had been arrested,”The former attorney added.
