Speaking at the Wiper headquarters during the unveiling, party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the choice of Kisoi was reached through consultations and consensus spearheaded by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and other leaders.
“Anthony Kyalo Kisoi is our party’s candidate for the by-election on the 27th. We wish him God’s guidance. This decision was made after wide consultations with those who had expressed interest in the Wiper ticket—we did not want to handpick like other parties,” Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo urged residents of Mumbuni North to rally behind Kisoi, saying: “To the people of Mumbuni, we hope you will turn out and vote for Antony Kyalo Kisoi. I give him my blessings and wish him well.”
In his acceptance speech, Kisoi thanked the party for the nomination, saying his candidacy represented not only Mumbuni residents but also the wider Ukambani region and the country. He expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him, noting that it was a big step for a young leader.
The Mumbuni North Ward seat fell vacant following the death of MCA Gideon Kavuu, and the by-election has attracted a crowded field of contenders eager to succeed him.
Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi urged former Governor Alfred Mutua to withdraw his party candidate, warning that his move risked dividing the Kamba community.
“For the sake of our people, Mutua should not sponsor a rival candidate. There is no difference between Mutua and Ruto. I ask him to withdraw his candidate and not allow himself to be used to divide our community,” Mwangangi said.
Kisoi will face off with Misi Mutua of the UDA Party, Harrison Wambua of Maendeleo Chap Chap, and several independent candidates in what is expected to be a hotly contested race.
