Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of failing to respond to an alleged incursion by Somali forces into Mandera County and abandoning Kenyan citizens to insecurity.
Kalonzo claimed that troops from Somalia’s Jubaland administration had crossed into Kenyan territory and were harassing residents in Mandera, yet the government remained silent. He warned that Kenya’s sovereignty was under threat and questioned President Ruto’s commitment to national security.
“Mandera County is under siege. Jubaland forces from Somalia have crossed into Kenyan territory and are terrorizing our people, yet the CS for Interior continues to deny their presence. Even the President himself has chosen inaction, appearing too weak to defend the sovereignty of our nation,” Kalonzo charged.
The Wiper leader further revealed that Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif had already reached out to State House for urgent intervention — but the plea, he said, appeared to fall on deaf ears.
“The Governor of Mandera has pleaded with the Commander-in-Chief to act, but instead, it seems Mr. Ruto is deliberately working to destabilize this country,” Kalonzo added.
In his strongest remarks yet, Kalonzo declared that a government unable to protect its borders or its people had forfeited its legitimacy.
“A government that cannot protect its borders or its citizens has no moral right to call itself a government of the people,” he said.
Kalonzo’s remarks reflect growing public frustration in Mandera, where residents reportedly live in fear amid claims of foreign military presence. Despite mounting concerns, the government has remained silent, fueling accusations of neglect, weakness, and betrayal at the highest levels of leadership.
