Mutua insists he did not lie to Kenyans about Canadian jobs, blames media

Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua has refuted claims that he lied about Canadian job opportunities for Kenyans.

While appearing before the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee Mutua insisted that the Government’s plan to find job opportunities for Kenyans in Canada is still on course.

The former Machakos Governor disclosed that Canada has a million job opportunities that Kenyans can do.

“I went to Canada I had a wonderful meeting in terms of opening our team trade. Unlike other countries, you can work in Canada as a barrister, waitress, driver all the way to serving in a law firm but depending on where,” Mutua said.

“We agreed and we are finalizing the numbers of Kenyans who can go and we will be giving an announcement soon,” he added.

He observed that the report given out by the Canadian Government was aimed at unscrupulous agents luring Kenyans into finding jobs abroad and not him.

“We have agencies that have been lying to Kenyans, promising them jobs in Canada and they are basically swindling people. When I was in Canada the issue came up and we agreed I was going to issue a statement where I warned Kenyans to avoid being lied to,” Mutua went on.

He blamed the media for what he termed as misreporting his statement on the issue and causing confusion.
