A section of Machakos MCAs have accused their colleagues of being taken to Mombasa and receiving cash to impeach Speaker Anne Kiusya.
Mbiuni MCA Peter Kilonzo accused Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti of organizing a retreat in Mombasa to orchestrate the impeachment of County Assembly Speaker Anne Kiusya.
“I want to tell the governor that elections will not be held in Mombasa but here in Machakos, and we are waiting for them,” Kilonzo stated, emphasizing local accountability.
According to Kilonzo, the governor’s actions are a response to Speaker Kiusya’s commitment to truth and her defense of the people’s interests. He suggests that Governor Ndeti became unsettled after the County Assembly summoned and questioned the Machakos Minister of Finance.
“When Kuyu was summoned in the County Assembly, the governor felt she would be next and is now finding ways to intimidate and influence the speaker,” Kilonzo explained.
Kilonzo expressed confidence that the impeachment motion would not succeed, revealing that 22 MCAs oppose the motion and have refused to accept bribes.
“What Governor Wavinya is trying to do is stopping diarrhea by stitching the anus, when you do that it will burst your stomach and die. We have numbers to deny them threshold. They need threshold of 75 percent, they cant get that. They left from Kyumbi last night and they went all the way to Mombasa, i don’t know why they are going there. Let them gazette the sitting and face us.”Masinga Central MCA Joshua Mwonga said.
Kalama MCA Boniface Maeke asked Governor Wavinya to learn from Kawira, who he said had people to play Guitar and compose songs for her.
“We are determined to speak the truth and the truth is Kiusya has not done anything wrong. Summoning the Finance CECM after he failed to appear before the committee severally is the cause of Kiusya’s problems.” Mua MCA Francis Ngunga said.
Kyeleni ward MCA Grace Bahati said it was not fair to impeach the only Woman County Assembly Speaker in the entire country.
“She wants to be removed for doing her work, oversight. As leaders, we have to ensure the people get services. Even if we remain 10 MCAs we will continue speaking for our people.” She said.
