Maanzo to go after Ruto if Rigathi is impeached

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has come out strongly in defense of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claiming that he is being unfairly targeted for impeachment.

Speaking during a Citizen TV interview on Monday, September 23, Maanzo emphasized that both President William Ruto and Gachagua were elected on the same ticket, and any attempt to remove the Deputy President from office should equally implicate the President.

“If there is an impeachment motion against the Deputy President, then we will also have an impeachment motion against the President. They’re elected on one ticket,” said Maanzo.

The Wiper senator suggested that any effort to impeach Gachagua would trigger a reciprocal motion to remove President Ruto from office.

Maanzo further argued that while Gachagua faces accusations, President Ruto is the one who has breached the Constitution of Kenya more severely, asserting that the two leaders should be impeached together if such proceedings are initiated.

“If there is anyone who has breached the constitution more, it is the President, not his deputy… we will tie them together and run the impeachment motions concurrently at the National Assembly and the Senate. I dare them to bring the motion!” Maanzo declared.

This statement comes amid ongoing political friction within the government, with opposition and ruling party members clashing over the leadership of both the President and Deputy President.
