2 boys have died of starvation in King’ang’ini, Mulango Kitui county after their mother locked them up in the house for days.
The two boys were locked together with their two brothers without food for days. The boys were noticed after crying for help after hearing the footsteps of one grandmother looking for her donkey that had strayed away.
According to Angeline Mbuvi a village elder one boy was found dead in the house while the other one died on reaching Mulango Hospital for medical attention.
“On opening the door one child was dead while the other was barely alive, we rushed them to the hospital after giving them milk but the boy was pronounced dead on arrival,” Angeline said.
“The remaining two were also referred to Kitui level 4 hospital. We don’t know what led to the children being locked up,” she added.
The bodies of the two were taken to the mortuary as investigations into the incident commenced. The mother of the boys has not been arrested yet.
