Labour CS Mutua Accuses Governor Wavinya of Running Down Machakos

Labour Cabinet Secretary and former Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has accused Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration of neglecting key projects he initiated during his tenure.

Speaking in Mumbuni North Ward while campaigning for Maendeleo Chap Chap candidate Harrison Wambua, Mutua claimed that services which were once free under his leadership are now being mismanaged and commercialized.

“I drank a lot of tea in Nairobi and didn’t relieve myself in the office. I decided to use the public toilets at Kyumbi junction. I found a young man who asked me to pay, yet during my time as governor nobody paid a cent. The toilets are in a very bad state—you can enter healthy and leave sick. Wiper government is now selling toilets,” Mutua alleged.

He further accused the county of neglecting the Machakos People’s Park, which he said had deteriorated and was now unsafe.

“I had put up streetlights which only needed maintenance, but they are no longer there. I also wanted to go to the People’s Park, but MP Caleb cautioned me not to go without a KWS warden because the park is now full of snakes. People used to come from abroad to visit, but the Wiper government has failed to maintain it,” Mutua said.

Mutua insisted that projects like public amenities, street lighting, and recreational facilities had been properly managed during his administration but have since been left to deteriorate.
