Matungulu MP candidate on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket Dr. Jimmy Mwithi now claims that he still remains in the Azimio la Umoja coalition despite his party leader Dr. Alfred Mutua joining Kenya Kwanza.
Mwithi claims that even if his party leader left Azimio la Umoja he is still in the coalition and is the coordinator of Azimio la Umoja campaigns in Matungulu Subcounty.
Speaking after being endorsed by three Kamba clans from Matungulu namely Asii, Atangwa, and Ethanga, Mwithi noted that the Kamba community was in Azimio, and even though Dr. Alfred Mutua had shifted his support to Kenya Kwanza the region was still behind Raila.
“I am still in Azimio la Umoja no matter where my party leader is. My party leader moved to Kenya Kwanza and I learned of it late after being named the Azimio la Umoja coordinator for Matungulu sub-county. The Kamba community is in Azimio and I cannot be a betrayer of the tribe,” said Mwithi.
The politician further noted that after being endorsed by the largest Kamba clans in the sub-county. it was evident that the people had decided that it is time that they changed the leadership of the sub-county and elect leaders not because of party affiliations but because of the development record.
“Am grateful to the Atangwa, Asii, and Ethanga clans for your tremendous support of my political bid. You have seen a leader in me and I assure you that I will not fail you. Matungulu sub-county has lost its glory and I will ensure that I bring it back through developments and creation of employment as well as recognizing all these clans,” he added.
Mwitho now joins Former Machakos Chief Of Staff and Kibwezi West MP Aspirant on a Maendeleo Chap Chap Mwengi Mutuse who reiterated that he was supporting Azimio, not Kenya Kwanza despite Mutua quitting.
