Some came to know controversial singer Rosaline Katungwa through fellow singer Zipporah Eric but many knew her after her alleged sex video leaked.
Although the singer has not spoken about the video she has hinted it is among the things of her ‘past’ and people should not judge her for them.
Katungwa grew up like every village child to be who she is today and here are a few facts about her that we were able to gather about her.
She hails from Makueni county
The ‘Munyanya wa w’o’ hitmaker hails from Mukameni in Kibwezi East, Makueni county.
She schooled at Mukameni Primary and Mukameni Secondary and did her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exam in 2016 making her age to be between 24 and 26 years.
She started singing in school
While in Secondary school, she realized her passion for singing and participated in the choir and organized music events.
She also kept in touch with the local community and participated in music events too.
After form four she didn’t join college and instead went to Nairobi where she recorded her first song. The song did not do well but she was never discouraged because she has the support of the church both emotionally and financially.
Her fame
Although she was garnering more followers on Tiktok and fame was knocking Katungwa’s collaboration with Tanzanian gospel artist Rose Muhando catapulted her to instant fame.
The two did a song ‘Yesu Anakuja’ together which has so far garnered almost a million views on YouTube.
The singer was doing well until skeletons from her past found their way into her present making her the topic of discussion for weeks now.
She has however remained resilient and even released a song while the saga was being scrutinized online.
Her song ‘Kuvulana na Ngai‘ was meant to blast haters trying to bring her down because of the video.
In the song, she asks why judge her past while all the is trying to do is mix with Jesus and see goodness in her life.
Some people have come out to allege that the alone was Ill-advised considering the heaviness of the issue.
