A 65-year-old woman from Misakwani village in Mumbuni, Machakos County lost her life after her house was set ablaze by unknown people who also went ahead to attack her son.
Confirming the incident, Mumbuni Senior Chief Matthew Mulee said the perpetrators went to the woman’s house at night and attacked her and set her house ablaze where the woman sustained burns which led to her death.
“The two were asleep, the woman in her house with her son in the same compound where they were attacked by unknown people who beat up her son and set her house where she was sleeping on fire, ” Mulee said.
He confirmed that investigations had been launched while her son was receiving treatment at Machakos Level 5 and the woman’s body has been taken to Machakos Level 5 Mortuary.
“The police were called to the scene and have launched investigations. The man is receiving treatment at the hospital and the body of his mum was picked up and taken to the mortuary, ” he noted.
The senior chief further warned the perpetrators and anyone who was found engaging in crime that the law would catch up with them and they would not be spared.
“We don’t know the motive of the attack but we as the authority we will not condone any kind of crime whether it’s because of hate or just random crime, be warned that whoever did this will not evade justice, ” the chief warned.
