Wiper Party summons 25 Kitui MCAs

4 Days after a change in Majority leadership at Kitui County Assembly, Wiper party has summoned 25 MCAs to the party headquarters in Nairobi.

According to sources at the Party, the move is a reaction to the decision by 14 MCAs to reinstate Harrison Maluki as the Majority leader and Bonface Mukwate Katula as Majority Whip last week.

The previous leadership that had the blessings of the Wiper Party leadership served for just 6 months before being kicked out by the MCAs who now demand to be left to choose who leads them.

“Wiper is a national party and we need it in Kisumu and other parts of the country…We cannot say we kick out Majority whip who is from Kitui Rural without reasons, “Kivou MCA Sammy Mungi’thya questioned.

Over 10 Wiper MCAs who attended the thanksgiving of Tseikuru MCA Daniel Kimanzi Muange at Philip Manandu Comprehensive School, Saturday asked the party to stop interfering with the Assembly affairs.

Their remarks were echoed by Kitui Speaker Kelvin Kinengo and Paul Nzengu who decried cartels in Wiper who were out to frustrate his leadership.

“When I became speaker, there were cartels in Wiper who didn’t want me and vowed to kick me out. The team here stood with me Maluki, Katula, and the rest stood with me and they were removed from office because of that. Wiper MCAs chose to elect their own leaders and not those from the party. MCAs have a right to elect their leaders.” Kinengo said.

“Maluki and Katula, do not fear anything, if they want to kill us they can go ahead. They keep threatening us. We won’t accept.” Kinengo added.
