Machakos County Speaker has been given an ultimatum of 7 days to step down as the speaker of the Machakos County Assembly.

Addressing the press, the MCAs led by Deputy Majority Leader and Kivaa MCA Justus Kiteng’u said that the speaker had been elected to the position through the Wiper party and now that she had joined CCU Party and become Waita Nzioka’s running mate she should resign from the speaker position.

“We heard our speaker Florence Mwangangi saying that when she joined CCU she went with Wiper MCAs all I can say is that as Wiper MCAs we are intact and we have not gone anywhere,” Kiteng’u said.

“We elected speaker with a big margin as Wiper MCAs and since she has decamped we are giving her 7 days to resign as the speaker so that the wiper party can elect another speaker,” he added.

His words were echoed by MCA Kinanie Ward and the Majority Leader Mark Muendo who said that it was bad of the speaker to say that she had moved with Wiper MCAs to CCU.

“We heard our speaker saying that she had joined CCU with MCAs affiliated to the wiper Party and we are saying that we did not go with her, Wiper party is strong and if she wants to sell CCU ideologies let her do so,” Muendo said.

“Because CCU party has a lot of duties all we ask of her is to step down as the speaker and leave the position to Wiper party in the remaining few months because Wiper was the one that sponsored her and if she has found shelter in CCU, it’s good she leaves the speaker position,” The majority leader added.

Speaker Florence Mwangangi had announced her Gubernatorial bid saying that she was going to run on a wiper party ticket but last week tables turned and she joined the CCU party and became the running mate to former State House Chief Of Staff Waita Nzioka.
