Kitise/Kithuki ward MCA Kevin Mutuku resigned from his position Tuesday. This was through a communication read to the house by Makueni county Assembly speaker Douglas Mbilu.

According to article 194 (1) (d) of the constitution, his position has now become vacant.

“The communication refers to the resignation of honorable Kevin Mutuku as the Member of County Assembly for Kitise/Kithuki ward,” read the communication by the speaker.

“Honorable members in my view means that when the speaker is notified of the resignation pursuant to the above article of the constitution of Kenya 2010 as is the case, Hon Kevin Mutuku ceases to be a member of Makueni county assembly effective from Tuesday 17th November 2020 at 8.30 am.”

Mutuku is among the four nominees shortlisted for the Makueni county assembly clerk position as published in the dailies. If he is appointed he then cannot serve in two public offices hence he had to resign.

Other nominees include Mirriam Kioko, Robert Musyoka, and Justus Kisilu.

The four will appear before the Makueni county assembly public service board for an interview on the 24th of this month.

“The nominees are invited to appear before the Makueni public service board for interviews at the county assembly offices, Wote at the time and date indicated against their names,” read the notice.

Before his resignation, Mutuku was the chairperson of the public accounts and investment committee in the assembly.
