For many widows, life is a constant struggle, often overlooked by society and left to fend for themselves.
But for a group of widows in Kangundo Sub-County, hope arrived in the form of Stella Nzembi, a well-wisher determined to change their fortunes.
Nzembi recently facilitated a hands-on training session for the Katheini Widows Group, equipping them with skills to make soap, jik, and harpic.
Speaking at Katheini, she emphasized the importance of economic empowerment for widows, urging more people to step in and support them.
“Today, I met the Katheini Widows Group and facilitated their training on how to make soap and cleaning products. We also provided them with the necessary materials. Widows are often forgotten in the community, yet they have families to support. By equipping them with these skills, we are helping them become self-reliant,” said Nzembi.
Lesa Mutio, the chairlady of the group, expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting how financial independence could transform their lives.
“When widows are empowered through such training, they can provide for their children without relying on handouts. This initiative ensures that we can stand on our own and create a sustainable source of income,” she said.
Nzembi promised to ensure the initiative is long-term to enable the widows to reclaim their dignity and financial support.
