Kitui County Governor Charity Ngilu has challenged Women to stop asking but to act to remove men from power. Ngilu was speaking on Tuesday at Masii, Machakos County during the launch of the NIIMS (Huduma Namba).
“Your excellency we have been asking for a long time about the two third gender. Me I have told women to stop asking. You will not give us. We should come and remove you from those seats na Tukalie.” Ngilu urged.
“Look at where the president is seating. You know your Excellency I really wanted to seat on that seat. Therefore I know it will not happen. We women of Kenya must now come together and form a very strong women’s movement. We will replace weak leaders with women. And we have several.” she added.
“Like here in Machakos Dr. Alfred Mutua is not running in 2022. We are already looking at which woman will take this seat. Prof. Kibwana is not running, we are also looking.” Ngilu said amidst cheers.
The Governor praised the Huduma namba saying the integration of data is the best thing that has happened in the country.”In 2013, you said yourself that we are going to get us out of analogue. This is where you are now taking us.”
She further took a swipe at those misrepresenting and misleading Kenyans on the initiative and asked the president to chase them away from Kenya. The Governor also invited the president to Kitui county saying its among the biggest counties. Bigger than Machakos, Makueni ,Embu and Tharaka Nithi combined.
Kitui County secured a deal to produce uniform for all chiefs and their assistants through Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC).
