Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti returned from the United Kingdom, accompanied by her son, amidst swirling rumors regarding her alleged detention abroad.
The governor’s arrival has sparked intense public interest and speculation, particularly given the timing and nature of the rumors circulating online a week ago.
Upon landing, Governor Ndeti took the opportunity to address the media, vehemently denying the allegations that had gained traction on social media platforms.
She attributed these rumors to her political adversaries, whom she claimed feel threatened by her accomplishments as governor and growing influence in the region.
“These unfounded claims are nothing more than a smear campaign orchestrated by those who have benefited from the status quo. When I came to Machakos I found 211 pay bills and reduced them to two to avert corruption,” Ndeti stated, emphasizing her commitment to transparency and accountability as a leader.
In her address, Ndeti highlighted her key achievements over the past two years in office, underscoring her dedication to the people of Machakos.
She spoke about various initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education within the county.
“My primary goal has always been to serve the people of Machakos and ensure that their needs are met,” she asserted, showcasing her administration’s efforts to foster positive change.
Furthermore, Ndeti pointed out that her political rivals have historically profited from various sectors within the county, often at the expense of ordinary citizens.
“I have worked diligently to close the loopholes that allowed for corruption and mismanagement,” she explained, vowing to continue her fight against graft and to promote sustainable development in the region.
