Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has issued a stern warning to MPs she accuses of undermining her leadership.
Speaking during a tour of Yatta and Masinga, Wavinya singled out Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule and Yatta MP Robert Basil, accusing them of relentless criticism of her administration while neglecting their responsibilities.
“Mule and Basil have been attacking my leadership daily, yet they have failed to fulfill their duties, let everyone do what they were elected to do, ”Wavinya said.
Wavinya called on Mule to provide a detailed account of the controversial Machakos Cancer Center project, alleging his involvement in its irregularities.
She also criticized Basil for using murram to patch up the Kithimani-Katangi road, a project under the County Government’s jurisdiction and still under construction.
“Let everyone focus on their mandate. One MP went ahead and murramed a road that belongs to the county government yet there are roads belonging to him in deplorable state,” she remarked.
The governor also accused the two lawmakers of mismanaging Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations, claiming they were more focused on interfering with her work than addressing their constituencies’ needs.
“These lawmakers are busy intruding into my work while failing to properly utilize their CDF funds,” Wavinya added.
Her remarks come amidst a growing call from lawmakers for Wavinya to find a lasting solution to the doctors’ strike and equip hospitals with drugs.
