Kamba TV presenter Ututi Wa Kyuma has shed light on the ongoing feud with his former colleague Katumbi.
Ututi sparked controversy last week by accusing Katumbi of inappropriate dressing, a remark that drew sharp criticism from Katumbi. She fired back, alleging that Ututi was the one who pressured her to dress provocatively to attract more viewers.
In response, Ututi used a late-night segment on Kamba TV to clarify his position and address the allegations.
Ututi said that although he does not take credit for Katumbi’s success he was mentoring her to be one of the leading presenters in Ukambani.
“When she came for her graduation, i told her i was releasing her so that she can grow on her own. She had not grown and i knew she would make the blunder and this made us fall out on social media. She started going the wrong way, i was raising a presenter.” Ututi narrated.
According to Ututi he was forced from time to time to defend her from management of Kamba TV over her dressing.
“One time, she sent me a poster about hosting an event at a club, and I advised her against it because I knew she wasn’t ready and i told her if you want to go you have my blessings but i will not mentor her to be a club MC, I had an issue with her dressing,” Ututi explained.
He explains that he wanted her fans to accept her as a presenter before starting hosting in clubs.
According to Ututi he did not want to mentor her to be a club MC as that would affect her image and hinder some brands from working with her.
He elaborated that his advice came from a place of mentorship, emphasizing the importance of mastering one’s craft as a presenter before transitioning into other roles such as emceeing.
“Upto date she is doing good but these clubs don’t pay good money, i have been there. If you have a good platform like this one you can attract brands. As long you associate with clubs you cannot get brand ambassador jobs. I knew that was not right environment for her,” Ututi noted.
Ututi noted that Katumbi had no right to boast about the Rada tyme show as he is the one who was behind the idea. He disclosed that he has since deleted Katumbi’s contact and blocked her.
