Uproar as bars in Tala defy presidential directive and remain open

A section of residents from Tala Market and its environs in Matungulu subcounty now want Machakos County Commissioner to intervene in a situation where bars in the area are flouting President Uhuru’s directives on closure of bars.

Speaking to Mauvoo News, some of the residents who sought anonymity said that despite that bars had been closed in other areas following directives by the president majority of them in Tala were still up and running as normal something that seems to shock them.

They went ahead to allege that the bar owners had compromised some of the entities to ensure that they had a smooth running of the business without being questioned about their doing.

“We are wondering why bars are still opened yet other places which were closed by the president like churches are not operating. When bars are operating as normal, they open even during the day and nothing happens to them, no one questions them,” they wondered.

The residents cried out to the authorities to help in the situation as most of the youths have indulged themselves in alcohol as well as with the opening of bars spread of Covid-19 is likely to increase as there is no social distance.
