Christianity is the dominant religion in Ukambani and Kenya at large. There are several influential men of God from Ukambani who have been at the forefront of spreading the gospel.
With their involvement in politics, some of these pastors from Ukambani have risen to be influential not only in the region but also countrywide.
They have worked hand in hand with the government for the sake of the country. In no particular order, here is the list.
Archbishop Arthur Kitonga
He is the founder and lead pastor at Redeemed Gospel Church and began Ministry at the age of 18.
He was among the pastors that attended the National Prayer day organized by President William Ruto last month.
Apostle Francis Musili
He is the founder of Around the Globe ministries popularly known as ATG in Nairobi and owner of Deliverance Television, ATG radio, and a Kamba television known as Mumo TV.
Musili worked with Presidents, Mwai Kibaki, and Uhuru Kenyatta during their regime alongside other members of the clergy.
Bishop Wilfred Lai
Known as Papa Lai to his congregation he is the lead pastor of the Jesus Celebration Center.
In 2021, Lai gave then Deputy President William Ruto a prophecy that before 2022 his opponents would assemble against him but emerge victorious in the end. This came to pass as Ruto won the General election a year later.
President Ruto has also been a close friend to Lai and his wife Rita.
John Muli
He was the pastor at AIC Kitui township and became famous in October 2022 when he received a 6 million Toyota Prado from President William Ruto as his retirement gift.
The pastor had requested a car to use after retirement in the previous Sunday service attended by President Ruto.
