Top Kamba Artists Thrill Crowd at Wiper NDC, Bringing Uhuru Park to a Standstill

The iconic Uhuru Park came to life on Friday as thousands of supporters gathered for the Wiper Front Party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC), where celebrated Kamba gospel and benga artists Zipporah Eric, Ken wa Maria, John Kay, and Alex Katombi electrified the crowd with powerful live performances.

John Kay set the tone for the day with his soulful gospel performance, drawing cheers from the early morning crowd. His latest song, Useo, featuring Lydia Syomiti, moved the audience deeply, with several female politicians joining him on stage to sing along.

He was followed by Zipporah Eric, whose uplifting gospel tracks have earned her widespread admiration. The Mateelemya hitmaker lit up the stage with her newest release, Mbee wa Ngai, prompting Makueni Governor to momentarily leave his seat and join her on stage in celebration.

Switching gears, Alex Katombi brought the crowd to its feet with his modern Kamba benga beats, seamlessly blending music and politics to energise the audience. The seasoned benga artist performed some of his biggest hits, including Ngombo, Kyathi, and Simba, captivating the massive crowd.

Closing the musical lineup was Ken wa Maria, the celebrated leader of Yatta Orchestra Band, who lifted the mood even higher with his signature hit Mutua Katuku. His finale performance, Ika Nesa Kalonzo, served as a perfect cue to usher in Kalonzo Musyoka to the podium amid thunderous cheers.
