Simeon Kioko resigns as Universal Traders Sacco chair to vie for Machakos Senator


Machakos businessman Simeon Kioko resigned as Chairman universal traders Sacco so as to contest as a senator in the upcoming Machakos Senatorial By-election.

This is according to a letter dated 7th January 2020 and addressed to the Board Chairman universal traders Sacco society. In the letter, Kitheka says his resignation will take effect on an immediate basis.

“Due to my desire to vie for Senatorial seat of Machakos County, In accordance with the law governing cooperatives and to avoid politicizing the SACCO, I tender my resignation immediately. ” The brief letter added.

On his achievements at the universal traders, Sacco Kitheka had this to say, “I was elected as the chairman of universal traders SACCO five years ago. In 5 years the SACCO has grown by 400%. From an asset base of 500million to currently 2.3 billion. I resigned yesterday to vie for the Senate seat.”

The former teacher who has been involved in Machakos constituency politics previously will be using the GDDP party affiliated with Kangundo MP Fabian Muli.

Other candidates interested in the seat so far include Lily Nduku of CCU, Urbanus Muthama Independent, Joseph Mathuki, Mutua Katuku of Maendeleo Chap, Bernard Kiala, Ndawa Magdalene, Gilbert Maluki, Simon Kitheka among others. Wiper party is said to beĀ considering the wife to late Boniface Kabaka Jeniffer Mueni or Agnes Kavindu.
