Residents of Kalundu in Kitui town reeled in shock after the body of a baby believed to be prematurely born was found in a muguka sack in a shamba near Kalundu river.
According to the eyewitnesses, the body was found by a shamba boy who works at the farm near the river and called the residents who found that the baby was dead.
The residents urged everyone to ensure that if they engage in sexual activities and get pregnant they take responsibility for their actions instead of doing such inhuman acts.
“I’m bitter because of the act here which saw an innocent baby die and I want to call upon ladies especially the youth when you get pregnant you make sure you give birth to the child instead of terminating the life of the innocent child. You shouldn’t be worried about what the child would eat because you can also come to us Boda Boda riders and request us to give you something,” Kelvin Kyeu an eye witness said.
“The child might become the future president of our country or a great leader so we kindly request that we don’t want to see this issue here in Kalundu, Isaangwa, Katyethoka, and Kitui environs because the case is increasing each day.” He went on.
The body was later picked by police officers from Kitui Police Station and taken to Kitui Level 4 mortuary as the residents fiercely condemned the incident.
Investigations were launched to get the mother who dumped the child since it is alleged that she might have come from around because the miraa bag wrapping the body was written kalundu.
The incident comes barely a few weeks after a middle-aged man’s body was on Friday found floating on river Kalundu in Majengo, Kitui Central in Kitui County.
