Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua lectured Raila and ODM leaders over the upcoming dialogue. Raila and several ODM leaders were in attendance at the burial of Wycliff Oparanya’s brother in Kakamega.
Kalonzo Musyoka distanced himself from the dialogue set to commence on Monday, July 15, 2024, arguing that numerous past dialogues had failed to bring about meaningful change.
“There is no dialogue until extra-judicial killings stop. These are youthful leaders, they have decided to do away with corruption in real time. We want to say no to abduction before any dialogue,” Kalonzo said.
He reinforced his stance by citing previous dialogues between the opposition and the government that failed to produce tangible results. He called out sycophancy among leaders allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo further expressed his deep disappointment in the government for its failure to protect its citizens highlighting growing concerns about the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its people.
“The big responsibility of any government is to safeguard the lives of its citizens. If a government fails to do so, then it does not deserve to be identified as a government…We want to be a Country devoid of fear and sycophancy and I agree with Senator Wambua we want to give Baba all the problems yet he has one life, we have to think, leaders please stop the sycophancy, think on your own like the youths,” Stated Kalonzo amidst applaud from mourners.
Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua also called out ODM leaders close to Raila for sycophancy and failing to advise Raila well. He mentioned that he will not take part in any Dialogue with President Ruto.
“Let us talk the truth, We are elected leaders and one of our responsibilities is to advise our principals before they can make a decision. If you are a leader and you tell Raila if you say left I go left, what is your work to Raila? It would rather Raila to remain without leaders around him. ” Kiio said.
There seems to be a rift in Azimio with a section of leaders led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka opposing dialogue with President Ruto. ODM leader Raila Odinga in the funeral said the Dialogue will not be between him and Ruto but among Kenyans.
