Deputy President William Ruto Wednesday met Machakos town traders for an empowerment program. Speaking during the meeting, the DP hinted at endorsing Machakos town MP Victor Munyaka to be the Governor in 2022.
“I agree with those who have spoken before me. When someone finishes class 8 he is supposed to join form one. Even if he lacks fees, get him a bursary. We will fundraise for him to join form one.” Ruto said.
Earlier on in the meeting, Mwala MP Eng. Vincent Musyoka Musau and his Kitui East counterpart Nimrod Mbai vowed to support Munyaka to be the governor.
The decision by Ruto might throw the UDA Party supporters from Machakos in Limbo as UDA Chair Johnson Muthama has also declared interest in the seat.
In the meeting, the Deputy President also promised to have an empowerment fund of 100milion when he is elected, which will go to small traders to help them with their business.
Ruto also accused NASA of spoiling the big 4 agenda he had with the president and shifted the focus to BBI which he said was meant to create jobs for a few politicians.
“We must change this conversation and stop talking about a few leaders and instead talk about the common mwananchi. They thought it was a joke when we said the 2022 government will be formed by hustlers…They thought it was a joke, they are now suffering in boardrooms wondering who will lead them” Ruto said.
The DP also took credit for rural electrification in Machakos, 5 new technical training institutes, Machakos water, and sewerage projects.
