A section of Deputy President William Ruto’s allies from the Lower Eastern Region have blamed Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu after the county was ranked among the poorest in the country.

The Ruto allies pointed fingers at Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu for neglecting the county and focusing on Azimio la Umoja campaigns.b Netizens on Twitter also reacted on the same noting that people have been lamenting poor leadership in Kitui thus it is the reason why Kitui was ranked as the eighth poorest county in Kenya.

Machakos Town MP Dr. Victor Munyaka blamed the Kitui Governor for abandoning her people and instead focusing on insulting Deputy President William Ruto instead of working for the Kitui people. He lamented that instead of implementing projects for the people she is busy abusing the second in command.

“My attention has been drawn to research where Kitui county is among the worst where locals are affected by poverty. It is quite unfortunate that Governor Ngilu is always busy attacking William Ruto instead of initiating projects to alleviate Poverty. Kitui needs a change.” Munyaka in a Tweet said.

Jonathan Mueke who is eyeing the Kitui gubernatorial seat took to his social media to state that the reason for Kitui being ranked as one of the poorest counties is because of bad leadership.

“We are well blessed with so many natural resources, have plenty of learned, able and hardworking youth and women from all across Kitui County willing and ready to work – and with a budget of over Ksh 12 billion. We are not poor, we are made poor by our leaders,” Mueke said.
