Robert Mbui Clashes with Nimrod Mbai Over Wiper Ban in Kitui East

Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has fired back at Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai over what he termed as “reckless and inciteful” remarks following a controversial declaration banning the Wiper Party from Kitui East.

Mbai recently sparked outrage after threatening that no Wiper member would be allowed to set foot in his constituency unless former nominated MCA Jackline Kalenga was reinstated to the party. Kalenga was expelled by the Wiper Party in a disciplinary move that has seemingly angered the outspoken MP.

In a hard-hitting response, Mbui condemned Mbai’s remarks, warning that such statements could incite political intolerance and even violence.

“I don’t know his level of education, but education helps people reason better. What he said is dangerous—if anyone is injured because of his comments, he’ll face the law. Let him not think that being close to the President makes him untouchable. No one is above the law,” said Mbui.

He reaffirmed Wiper’s commitment to democratic values and legal processes, saying the party would not be intimidated by threats or political blackmail.

“There’s no law in Kenya that bars any citizen or party from accessing any part of the country. We will continue to engage with people across all regions without fear,” he added.

Mbui also pointed out the hypocrisy in Mbai’s threats, noting that Kenya Kwanza leaders have campaigned freely in Wiper strongholds without disruption.

“Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was recently in Kathiani. He came, did his thing, and left peacefully. However, People fought after he gave a small amount. That MP (Mbai) needs to go back to school—you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but in 2027, we’ll teach him a political lesson. We will elect a new MP,” Mbui quipped.
