Rita’s Bible Post Raises Questions: Repentance or PR Tactic?

Suspended Transport and Roads CECM Rita Ndunge found herself in hot water yet again on Sunday after posting a Bible verse on Facebook that appeared to convey a message of hope and restoration.

Quoting Deuteronomy 30:3-13, Ndunge wrote: “God will restore everything that was lost, have compassion, and gather people back from where they were scattered.”

However, the post did not sit well with many netizens, who interpreted it as a desperate attempt at damage control following her suspension.

The former minister was embroiled in scandal after a leaked audio recording surfaced, allegedly capturing her admitting to accepting a bribe from a Matatu Sacco this leasing to her suspension.

The public, already incensed by the allegations, did not mince their words in the comments section.

“It was a big mistake to work through the phone when you have an office…” wrote Mc Jona Jona.

Another user, List Lisa, criticized her harshly, commenting, “That same mouth quoting the Bible is the one that called for bribes? No mercy for the wicked!”

Elizabeth Mwando chimed in with similar disdain: “No mercy for the wicked… Bure kabisa.”

Others suggested her newfound piety was too little, too late. “Now you remember God during your downfalls,” noted Young Sheriff.

Alex Kimatu summed up the sentiment with a biting remark: “Power is transient. Now stay safe at home.”

Ndunge’s suspension has thrown her career into turmoil, and with public opinion turning against her, the road to redemption seems increasingly steep.
