Pressure Mounts on Mutuse as bodaboda operators give 24 hour ultimatum

Bodaboda operators from Kibwezi West constituency, Makueni County, have issued a 24-hour ultimatum to their MP, Mwengi Mutuse, demanding that he reveal the names of individuals behind the attacks and theft of their motorbikes.

The operators urged Mutuse to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and expose those responsible for the escalating cases of motorbike theft and the murder of riders in the region.

Their demands follow the MPs’ remarks last Friday that he knew the masterminds behind the crimes and vowed to expose them soon.

“We will not remain silent while our fellow bodaboda riders are being attacked, their bikes stolen, and sold across the border in Tanzania. We know who is behind these crimes, and we cannot allow such individuals to ever lead Kibwezi West,” said Mutuse last week.

However, his remarks did not sit well with the operators, who questioned why he had remained silent despite allegedly having information that could help stop the crimes.

“Let him speak out so that action can be taken, or he should personally pursue the matter since he claims to be a lawyer,” said Dennis Muthoka, a bodaboda operator.

The riders vowed to hold Mutuse accountable for his words, emphasizing that the issue is a matter of life and death.

They accused the lawmaker of failing in his duty to protect them, forcing them to fend for themselves.

“We are giving him 24 hours to name those behind our suffering. He cannot be our leader while staying silent as we are killed and our means of livelihood are stolen,” said Richard Musyoki, another operator.

The operators now await the MPs’ response, warning that failure to act will force them to take further action to protect themselves.
