A Section of Ukambani leaders are continuing to mount pressure on the Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over remarks made in Taita Taveta a few days ago. Kalonzo said Kambas should not vie in the Taita Taveta Gubernatorial race but leave it for locals.
Alfred Wendi a businessman and supporter of Deputy president who is the secretary-general of the ‘hustler Nation’ Movement in the Lower Eastern region asked Kalonzo to apologize to people living in Taita Taveta county.
He said the constitution does not recognize tribalism and that everybody has a right to exercise democracy wherever they live in this country by participating in the election.
The businessman was speaking at a burial ceremony in Mathima, Mutha ward in Mutomo sub-county where he accused Kalonzo of making remarks that seem to divide the communities living in Taita Taveta.
He termed Taita Taveta as a metropolitan county occupied by communities from different counties citing that they have equal rights to participate and vie in any seat they wish.
“Kalonzo Musyoka’s words are demeaning and a breach to democracy and peaceful coexistence which should be discouraged,” Wendi said.
He asked communities living in Taita Taveta county to stay in harmony and embrace unity before and during the election.
On Saturday, Deputy President Dr. William Ruto Saturday (3rd October) told off Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his recent remarks made while on a tour of the Coastal and Lower Eastern regions.
Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama earlier in the week asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to take action against Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka over his utterances while in Taita Taveta.
